Well, certainly a highlight of the flight was our upgrade to First Class on the A380 from Melbourne to LA! Sleeping in a bed, almost as wide as a single bed was awesome! We all managed to sleep- which made for a better arrival experience into LA.
We headed to our hotel and were pleased they could check us in immediately.....so at 9 am yesterday morning we found we had no kettle, and no happiness until I went across the road to buy coffees!
We all thought we were doing fine with the travel and time difference. We did the hop on hop off bus, through Hollywood, Rodea Drive, all the way down to Santa Monica Pier, Muscle Beach ( weren't many muscles around) the skate park, etc. headed back ( which takes around 2 hours or so) and we all fell asleep on the bus! Jack included! Hmmmmmmm........
Managed to have an hours rest before dinner then bed by 10pm......boys are still asleep and I woke up at around 7am! It's now 9 am and I'm about to get them up!
Well, off to explore again! Xx

So Close

Getting Ready

So we've got all our funds sorted, passports and driving licenses! It seems after looking at maps that I may indeed be the one driving, although Mick has told me that if I improve on my directional skills and patience, he may well drive!
Jack of course has no idea about the holiday he's about to experience, save for the fact he doesn't have to go to school- which for him has resulted in a countdown of "how many days of school are left" as opposed to how many sleeps till our holiday!
Jack would prefer to spend 7 weeks at Disneyland, although he is excited now about the aurora borealis and Grand Canyon!
Thanks to Serina ( who has just returned from an amazing trip there, we are now spending a few days in Hawaii, just to rest before we trek home to reality!
Packing has become the bane of my existence- I keep revising, checking and re checking. I have packed 240 coffee pods......we are limited to 3 cups pp per day haha! We cannot live without decent coffee......and sadly that lacks in the U.S.!
We are down to 5 sleeps....the anxiety levels are up, and the craziness of what we are about to embark on is well and truly with us!
I'm panicking about my photography skills, as I want to do ten places justice, but, well, I'm sure I'll survive!
Here's to slide nights!!
On my blog, you should be able to link to the travel map and planner- it details where we are going and when! Hopefully you find it entertaining!

Getting Organised!

sunny 22 °C

This is where I will be logging our trip, photos and comments for friends and family to see! Who knows how good I'll be at updating it!
So, right now I've booked so many things, approx 13 flights, trains, buses, accommodation ( got a wee bit excited at how many Fairmont Hotels are around!) and activities!
Jo's highlights will be the Blachford Lake Lodge, far north of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories of Canada, to spend 3 nights watching, and hopefully photographing the Aurora Borealis ( Northern Lights), and some great restaurants ( already researching them!)
Jacks highlights will probably be Universal Studios, LA and Disneyland for 3 days, where he will want to buy every little souvenir and knick knack possible!
Michaels highlights will be the whole trip, and being away exploring. Apparently his highlight will not be driving through the Rockies ( as he is driving, and on the wrong side of the road!)
So, I'm up to searching clothes and jackets to take......and how I'm going to take minimal in my case.....that will be my biggest challenge!
